Anti-Fraud
Terry Raycraft
Division Manager
The Anti-Fraud Division investigates violations of insurance laws and regulations, with an emphasis on preventing and prosecuting insurance fraud in this state. Referrals of unlawful conduct pertaining to insurance may come to this division from many diverse sources, including consumers, insurers, agents, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and other governmental agencies. The division’s investigators, lawyers, and support staff work together to develop cases of merit so that appropriate actions and penalties are assessed against wrongdoers. The in-house lawyers may refer, initiate, handle, or assist in formal proceedings, including administrative, civil, and/or criminal.
The division’s activities may focus on insurance agents, brokers, companies, and other licensed persons; surplus lines insurance; unauthorized insurance entities; and persons fraudulently engaged in the business of insurance.
The Anti-Fraud unit may promote the prevention of insurance fraud through training, educational programs, public-awareness activities and other means.
