Prelicensing Course Exemptions

• Holders of the following designations:
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) - for the lines of property, casualty, personal lines, and automobile
  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) - for the lines of property, casualty, personal lines, and automobile
  • Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) - for the lines of life, accident & health or sickness, and variable life/annuity
• Applicants for the following lines of authority:
  • Industrial Fire (Applicant is exempt from prelicensing course, but must take licensing examination.)
  • Credit
  • Legal Service
  • Dental Service
  • Motor Club
  • Rental Vehicle
• Applicants who become residents of the state of Alabama and who provide a letter of clearance can be licensed for those lines of authority shown on the clearance letter.
