Fire at Selma City School

One Classroom Severely Damaged

A 2:30 AM fire today severely damaged one classroom at the Phenix School in Selma. Several other classrooms received lesser damage from smoke and water. Phenix School is an alternative school located at 501 Plant Street.

Investigators with the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office have determined the fire was intentionally set and the investigation is now classified as an arson.

Plans regarding the school’s schedule will be announced by the school board.
