A West Blocton woman was arrested on capital murder and arson charges relating to an October fire death, State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk said today.

Wanda Shadrick, 30, was charged with starting the October 9 house fire that killed 56-year-old David Leonard White, also of West Blocton.

Shadrick was placed in the Bibb County Jail in Centreville. A hearing to consider bail is pending.

The Alabama State Fire Marshals Office, the West Blocton Police Department and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Department cooperated in the investigation and arrest. Additonal charges may be filed.
