Church Arson Causes Minor Damage

A small fire was discovered at 6:52 Sunday evening, August 30, at The First Unitted Methodist Church of Opp.  The Church Building Sustained only minor damage and although the building was occupied at the time, no injuries were reported. An ensuing investigation by the Alabama State Fire Marshal's Office, the Opp Fire Department and the Opp Police Department has determined that the blaze was intentionally set.  State Fire Marshal Ed Paulk asks that anyone who may have information pertaining to this fire at The Firsxt Methodist Church in Opp to please contact the Alabama Arson Hotline at 1-800-654-0775.
