An early morning fire in a duplex apartment resulted in the death of a mother and her son.
Susan Artemus Wisminita age 32 and Conner Jacob Wisminita age 2 died Monday morning during a 5:34 AM fire in their apartment at 314-A Clinton Street SE.
At the present time the fire appears to have originated in a wall between the kitchen and dining room, and the cause appears to be electrical. An examination of the scene has failed to reveal the presence of any smoke alarms.
The fire and deaths are under investigation by the Jacksonville Fire and Police Departments, the Calhoun County Coroner’s Office and State Fire Marshals Office.
