Two suspects have been arrested and charged with the murder of forty-eight year old Charles Clarence Whately, whose body was found May 1st inside his burning home.
Craig Newton, age 24, and Chaundra Tasisha Johnson, age 24, have been charged with the murder of Mr. Whately and the burning of his home and vehicle.
The arrests followed a continuous investigation by the Macon County Sheriff's Office, the Tuskegee Police and Fire Departments, and the State Fire Marshal's Office since the fires and body were discovered.
