Investigators from Winston County and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office continue their investigation of a fire and death near Haleyville this morning.
At the present time it appears Martha Magdelene Willis, age 51, died in the fire which destroyed her home at 2215 County Road 28. The fire was discovered by a neighbor around 3:00 AM.
No smoke detector/alarm has been located in the remains of the house. The victim was found in the living room of her home.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the specific cause of death. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
