At the request of Insurance Commissioner David Parsons, Blue Cross Blue
Shield of Alabama has agreed to offer coverage to enrollees of Southern Health
Systems, Inc., as of September 1, 2001.
Current enrollees of Southern Health Systems, Inc., will be sent a Blue Cross
Blue Shield of Alabama information packet within the next few days. For more
information, enrollees may contact a Customer Service Representative at Blue
Cross Blue Shield of Alabama at 1-800-292-8868, or locally in Birmingham,
988-2200.
Southern Health Systems, Inc., an Alabama health maintenance organization,
was ordered to be liquidated on August 28, 2001.
