Annette Foster, age 55, of 74 Blue Springs Road in Louisville died Tuesday morning when fire destroyed her home. The fire was reported to the Louisville Volunteer Fire Department at 12:36 AM New Years Day, however, responding firefighters were unable to locate and rescue Mrs. Foster. Gregory Foster, son of the victim, attempted to enter the burning home to rescue his mother before firemen arrived, however, he too was unable to rescue her. An investigation by the Louisville Police Department and Alabama State Fire Marshals Office revealed the fire originated in the victim's bedroom where a portable kerosene heater was located. At this time the heater appears to have been placed too close to the bed clothing. No smoke detector/alarms were installed in the home.
