Three subjects have been arrested following a joint investigation by the Lineville Police Department and Alabama State Fire Marshals Office. The investigation began following a truck fire at R & R Parts and Service in Lineville on July 12th.
Richard Wayne Blair age 31 of Lineville, Randy Arthur Shutes age 19 of Ashland, and Charles Thomas Elder III age 24 of Ashland have each been charged with Criminal Mischief I, Theft of Property I, and Criminal Conspiracy to Commit a Felony. Coosa Valley Frieght was the owner of the burned 1988 Freightliner truck. All of these charges are related to the burning of the truck and an insurance claim for the burned truck.
In addition, Elder has been charged with Criminal Solicitation to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime.
Each of the cases will be presented to the next session of the Clay County Grand Jury.
