Investigators have charged one person for setting fire to the Budget Inn, 1238 Florence Boulevard in Florence.
Jason Allen Bolton, age 22, was charged this morning with one count each of Arson First Degree, Attempted Murder First Degree and Criminal Mischief First Degree. Bolton is currently under $102,000 bond and is being held in the Lauderdale County Jail.
The fire occurred at 3:22 AM today. One person received non-life threatening injuries while assisting other occupants of the motel to escape.
The investigation is being conducted by the Florence Police and Fire Departments and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office.
