Florala Resident Charged Following Fire

Florala resident Robert Lee Harper, age 45, has been charged with Arson First Degree, Attempted Murder and Domestic Violence following a fire at his home Monday night.  Harper and Anna Lou Harper were injured during the fire, however, neither person’s injuries are life threatening.

The fire, at 1489 Fourth Street in Florala, has been under investigation by the Covington County Sheriff’s Office, Florala Police Department and Alabama State Fire Marshals Office since it was reported at 7:11 PM April 21st.

Harper is being held at the Covington County jail under a $500,000 bond.
