Two subjects previously charged with the burglary of eight churches and one restaurant and the setting of fires in two churches, all in Chilton County, will face an additional charge each of arson second degree.  The two 18 year olds, Matthew Allen Mims and Kenneth Cory Presley, both of Clanton are currently being held in the Chilton County Jail.

Investigators with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama State Fire Marshals Office will file an additional charge against each suspect following consultation with the District Attorney’s Office for Chilton County.  The new charge for arson deals with the fact that two separate buildings at Sunshine Assembly of God were set on fire July 1st, rather than only one building.

In addition, it has been incorrectly stated that Lime Springs Church was set on fire Sunday July 6th, however that should have been Collins Chapel Baptist Church.
