A 20-year-old man was charged Monday July 7th with a violation of the state fireworks law after two Deputy State Fire Marshals observed the man shoot fireworks within 10 feet of a licensed fireworks storage and sales location.

Heath Hester was charged with one count of discharging fireworks in violation of Section 8-17-222 Code of Alabama 1975, which states, “It shall be unlawful to explode or ignite fireworks within ….. 200 feet of where fireworks are stored, sold or offered for sale.”  Hester turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and posted bond.

Deputy Marshals saw Hester, a firefighter with the Virginian Mines Volunteer Fire Department, as they were driving past the fireworks outlet on July 4th.
