Three residents of Quail Run Apartments Building C died Monday afternoon during a fire in the twelve-unit apartment building.  Two Hartselle firefighters also required treatment at Hartselle Medical Center for dehydration and other non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators with the Hartselle Fire and Police Departments and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office say a man, woman, and small boy were killed during the fire.  The names and ages of the victims are not being released pending notification of relatives.

The fire at the two story wood frame and brick veneer apartments, located at 1000 Mitwede Street S.W., was reported at 4:00 PM.  Hartselle Fire and Rescue Service responded to the scene and requested assistance from several other fire departments including Decatur, Falkville and Oak Ridge.  Firefighters from Flint and other rural volunteer fire departments also assisted Hartselle personnel in bringing the fire under control.  Damage to the apartment building was extensive.

At the present time the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
