Notice of Fire Marshal Regulation Hearing

Notice is hereby given that a hearing will be held at 10:00 AM on September 11, 2003, at the offices of the Alabama Department of Insurance, 201 Monroe Street, Suite 1700, Montgomery, Alabama, as follows:

 

Adoption of Chapter 482-2-101, whereby the State Fire Marshal proposes the adoption of the 2003 edition of the National Fire Codes with exceptions.  In addition, it is proposed that the following codes remain in full force and effect as regulations of the State Fire Marshal:  The Standard Building Code, 1997 Edition, with certain exceptions; The Standard Fire Prevention Code, 1994 Edition, with certain exceptions; and the Standard Existing Buildings Code, 1998 Edition, with certain exceptions. Adoption of Chapter 482-2-102, whereby the State Fire Marshal proposes the adoption of certain safety standards for school buildings.  These standards were requested by the State Department of Education.  (3 pages)

 

Adoption of Chapter 482-2-103, whereby the State Fire Marshal proposes the adoption of certain fire protection sprinkler requirements.  In particular the annual fees for contractor permits will be increased from $100 to $200; and a new fee is established for weekly test permits in the amount of $200, to be paid biennially.  (2 pages)

 

Any person wishing to submit testimony at said hearing is requested to submit said testimony in writing to the Alabama Department of Insurance, Attention: Legal Division, Post Office Box 303351, Montgomery, Alabama 36130-3351.  Any written submission of testimony prior to the hearing will not preclude anyone from making an oral or written presentation at the hearing.
