One adult died this morning during a fire at their apartment located at 2106 Briarwood Street.  This fire resulted in the first fire death in the city of Prattville since 1985.

Freda Erwin Poole, age 63, was found in the living room of her apartment, where she lived alone.  Firefighters responded from Station 3 located near the Highland Lakes Apartments where she lived, as well as from Prattville Stations 1 and 2.  The fire, primarily confined to one bedroom of the apartment, was reported by a neighbor at 4:20 A.M..

Investigators from the Prattville Fire and Police Department, Autauga County Coroner’s Office, and the Alabama State Fire Marshals Office say the fire and death remain under investigation.  The victim’s body has been transferred to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy.
