A fire early Sunday morning has taken the life of a Maplesville couple.
Moses Jessie Payne age 62 and Virginia Anderson Payne age 59, died Sunday morning when fire destroyed their home at 1170 County Road 15 near Maplesville. The fire was reported at 4:43 AM by a railroad work crew working at a nearby derailment site.
The couple's bodies were found in a bedroom of their home which consisted of a combination wood frame dwelling and mobile home. The fire originated in a den and has been traced to an extension cord.
Local authorities and the State Fire Marshals Office conducted the investigation.
