Examinations
Once you have completed the appropriate prelicensing course, you are eligible to
sit for the insurance producer examination. You will be asked to present a valid
photo ID and an original certificate of completion from an approved prelicensing
provider when you arrive to take your examination. If you have not received the
original certificate, you may present a copy only if the notary stamp and signatures
are legible by proctor.

License Examination Exemptions
The insurance producer examination is now available in five locations around the
state.
NOTE: Make sure you have your Certificate of Completion in hand before registering
for state exam.

For persons not currently holding an active Temporary Insurance Producer
License:
After successfully completing the examination, applicants must complete an
online application
for a $60.00 fee and a 3.5% transaction fee paid by credit card. You will be requested
to supply a copy of your Certificate of Completion for the prelicensing course to
the department. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express payments will be accepted
online. NIPR FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
For persons currently holding an active Temporary Insurance Producer License:
After successfully completing the examination, applicants must send a letter to
the Alabama Department of Insurance, Producer Licensing Division, P. O. Box 303351,
Montgomery, AL 36130-3351, within 30 days, requesting the issuance of a regular
producer license and attaching the original examination results certificate.
No fee is required.
NOTE: Examination certificate is valid for one year from date of completion.
